Our Sweetness is 8 Months Old!

Maddie turned 8 months today. I can't get over how fast her first year is flying by...and I hear it speeds up even more after the first year. Maddie is the light of our lives. We are so unbelievably blessed to be her mommy and daddy. Maddie is really developing a little personality. She is so funny! She will let out these loud shrieks when she sees Sammy or gets excited. It cracks us up! She is ticklish everywhere. She has started dancing now anytime her music comes on. She waves her arms up and down and rocks back and forth. She is playing peek-a-boo and loves to look at herself in the mirror still, ha ha! She is wanting to stand all the time and is starting to try to pull up. She is "crawling" backwards, but has not mastered going forwards. I still think she will walk before she crawls. She has started eating Puffs for a snack and she loves them. She is practicing getting them in her fingertips so they actually get in her mouth instead of smushed in her fist. It is really funny to watch. We don't go to the Dr. for her check up until next month, but I weighed her last week and she was a little over 20lbs! She is still a great eater...as you can see! She is also a little babbler. She is always "talking", and of course I love that! I guess she gets that from me, considering I never stop talking. :)I am looking forward to another exciting month of new discoveries.

We survived the Flood of 2009. Please pray for all the families who lost loved ones and their homes. It took me over 2 and 1/2 hours to pick up Maddie on Monday b/c of road closures. I thought I was about to have my first panic attack. I finally made it to her and did not let go of her till it was time for her to go to bed. I feel very fortunate that we have not been directly affected by this, but others were not so lucky. I pray they find the peace and help during this difficult time.

Maddie's 1st Beach Trip

We went down to Dauphin Island over the Labor Day weekend to see my dad's new house. He is retiring and moving there in January. It is a beautiful, peaceful island. My dad rented a beachhouse for us, my brother, my aunt and uncle and cousins, and my step-sister and her boyfriend. We had a lot of fun just relaxing and hanging out. We went to the beach all day on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday. Maddie did not care for the sand at all! She loved being on the beach, though, as long as she was sitting on a blanket. She loved the wind blowing in her face. She also enjoyed watching the seagulls swoop down to the ocean. She had a rough ride in the car on the way there, but was an absolute angel on the way back. I think she was not feeling well on the way down, since it was one day after she woke up with her first fever. It was only a low grade fever, but of course I freaked out. She received lots of TLC that day, and started feeling better by that afternoon. She still has a little bit of a cold though. :( Anyways, we can't wait to go back to the beach next year. I hope to make it an annual trip with everyone there again, too.
